MARINI EVODRYER PLUS: ANOTHER MONUMENTAL STEP  TOWARDS THE FUTURE OF HIGH-PERCENTAGE RECLAIMED ASPHALT PAVEMENTS (RAP)

More than forty years after patenting its first Recycling Ring, Marini continues to follow the path of innovation, technological progress and respect for the environment, affirming itself as an indisputable leader in the introduction of RAP in drying drum technology.

Now more than ever, the future of large companies in the asphalt production sector is filled with complex challenges, in which efficiency, quality and return on investment must walk hand-in-hand with respect for the environment. When designing a new plant, our customers expect solutions that help them ensure the sustainability and circularity of their production processes.
The introduction of the Marini EvoDryer marked a groundbreaking advancement in the sector, establishing itself as the leading technology for incorporating Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) into the recycling ring. This solution has been highly valued and widely adopted by customers, particularly for plants in the Marini Top Tower range. The extended length of the drying drum in these systems enables flexible positioning of RAP introduction after activation of the burner flame. This design ensures an efficient process under any operating conditions, thanks to the consistent length of the heat exchange zone for transferring heat to the aggregates.
The next milestone in innovation and excellence is the EvoDryer Plus, which Marini is proud to unveil at Bauma 2025. This advanced solution represents a significant evolution of the original EvoDryer drum, setting new standards in performance and technology.
With EvoDryer Plus, Marini's engineers and technicians have aimed to surpass the limitations of traditional drying drums in terms of the percentage of milled material introduced into the recycling ring. In fact, conventional systems, constrained by challenges in achieving adequate heat exchange without overheating the aggregates, typically allow no more than 40-45% RAP which risks damaging the bitumen in the reclaimed material.
Based on this consideration, the Alfonsine team has opted to extend the drum further, creating a hot air generation zone that allows for more gradual and precise heating of the mix of aggregates and milled material where needed.
To determine the amount of heat exchange required to provide this additional energy input, a series of tests and simulations were subsequently conducted in collaboration with the University of Bologna, once again serving as a valuable technical partner in Marini's research and development efforts.
The culmination of this process is the patent underlying the Marini EvoDryer Plus, a system that represents state-of-the-art technology and establishes a new benchmark for introducing milled material into the recycling ring. Instead of over-stressing the bitumen and RAP through excessive heating, it ensures the mix is brought to the optimal temperature.

An innovation and an improvement of the utmost importance, both from the perspective of the percentage of milled materials used, and the quality and performance of the finished product.
EvoDryer Plus technology was developed and patented several months before its official debut in Monaco, and Marini has already begun offering it to various customers, receiving extremely positive feedback. The idea was enthusiastically embraced by the leading Italian players in the road paving sector, who are interested in increasing the percentage of milling material in their mixes without having to resort to more complex technologies such as the Master Tower, Marini's flagship technology, or parallel drums in general.
EvoDryer Plus is the ideal choice for clients with these needs, as it allows them to operate just as they would with a traditional system: it is extremely user-friendly for the operator, requires minimal maintenance, incurs low energy costs, and delivers a performance practically equivalent to systems with parallel drums.
The new amalgamation of ideas has already garnered tremendous success. However, it’s important to clarify that this innovation is not intended to replace EvoDryer technology. EvoDryer will remain Marini’s flagship product, continuing to lead the medium-small category and setting the standard for performance, with clear advantages over traditional systems.
Marini EvoDryer Plus is a unique and distinct technology, specifically designed for companies with medium to large production sizes and volumes that justify a larger investment in a range of innovative concepts that deliver long-term returns.
The complementary nature of the two solutions has also been confirmed during discussions for multiple plants requested by the same client prior to the official presentation. Indeed, depending on the production site and its specific needs in terms of annual production and milling management, it was evident that both solutions piqued interest.
At Bauma 2025, Marini present the EvoDryer Plus technology mounted on a purpose-built system, the Class Tower Pro, with a production capacity of up to 280-300 t/h. In terms of both cost and performance, this combination is positioned in an intermediate range between the Top Tower equipped with EvoDryer and the Master Tower.
In fact, by adopting a Marini Top Tower system with EvoDryer, you can achieve a production with a milling percentage of up to 60%. With the Master Tower, this reaches 90-100%, while with a Class Tower Pro equipped with EvoDryer Plus, you can obtain up to 70% RAP.
Consequently, the patent aims to add an important piece to the range, positioning itself within the medium-high category.
Thanks to the Marini Software, which handles plant management with few changes required, the focus was primarily on the hot air generation zone. This meant there was no need to completely overhaul the software, as was necessary with the MasterTower; only a small adaptation was sufficient, limited to certain functionalities.
Subsequently, clients who choose to adopt a Marini Class Tower Pro system with EvoDryer Plus will not face any particular challenges in terms of new software. Essentially, they will have a standard software system with a few additional features, and, for the most part, all the benefits already known and appreciated by Marini customers in terms of energy savings, simplification of p roduction p rocess m anagement, a nd m aximisation o f R AP r euse i n t he p roduction o f n ew bituminous mixtures. Even an operator accustomed to working with traditional plants will not encounter any challenges in adapting to the new system.
The first installations of EvoDryer Plus on new Marini systems will take place in 2025. Once again, Marini has earned the trust of its clients with its latest technological innovations. In fact, in recent months, several well-established companies have chosen to implement this technology in their plants ahead of the official launch, also prompted by the brand’s established authority and solid technological reputation.
Requests started coming in several months before the official presentation at Bauma, quickly evolving into advanced negotiations. Once the assembly of the first Class Tower Pro units equipped with EvoDryer Plus have been completed on Italian soil, with the important logistical advantage of a shorter distance for any minor fine-tuning and adjustments to the machinery, we will then proceed with installations for international clients, who have already shown significant interest.
